Identification

a) IR Absorption Spectrum

b) TLC

c) Identification C (Sulphate)

d) Identification D

e) Identification E (Sodium)

IR absorption spectrum of the test sample is concordant with that of Sodium Picosulfate working standard.

The principal spot in the chromatogram obtained with test solution (b) is similar in position and size to the principal spot in the chromatogram obtained with the reference solution (a).

A white precipitate is formed on addition of barium chloride solution to the test solution.

A violet colour develops on addition of potassium dichromate to the test solution.

It gives the reaction of sodium.

4 Appearance of solution Appearance of solution is clear and not more intensely coloured than reference solution GY7.
5 Acidity or Alkalinity Not more than 0.25mL of 0.01M sodium hydroxide is required to change the color of the indicator to pink.
